Founder and President of Vokashi, Inc. Vandra Thorburn is creator of this award winning innovative green small business to help households and small businesses recycle their food waste using the Japanese method of fermentation called EM-Bokashi. Incorporated in August of 2009, Vokashi (www.vokashi.com) received the 2010 Excellence Award in the Brooklyn Public Libraries PowerUp! Business Plan Competition. Vokashi has a growing base of monthly subscribers that use this compost service to manage their household food scraps. Vokashi guarantees to process all food scraps at dedicated composting sites in community gardens, private backyards and public green spaces. Prior to founding her business, Vandra had been an executive secretary in legal and nonprofit companies.
