Business Attraction

On April 26, 2013 the LDC’s Business Development team drove potential tenants of the Pitkin Avenue corridor on a trolley.  The effort, a strategy to attract businesses to the area, toured more than a dozen business owners to four storefronts that were being showcased by the property owners.  To learn more about our business attraction efforts, please contact Gail Davis at 718-385-6700 ext. 20.

We offer an intensive, 6-week course for individuals in business who are looking to gain or hone their sales and networking skills. Gain confidence and poise when speaking to customers, manage and maintain client networks customers, have the ability to speak confidently and clearly about what your product or service offers, and close the deal! These skills will directly affect your ability to increase profitability and efficiently compete in the business environment of today.

Technology Skills Training

We offer a large range of technological skills workshops to get you started  or further your progress in creating your own website, Quickbooks, social media and search engine optimization, Microsoft Office and Google drive and Computer skills.

Marketing and Technical Assistance

Our Marketing specialists can help to create your website, logo, or other marketing materials needed for your sales process.

MWBE

Becoming a certified Minority or Women owned Business Enterprise (WMBE) can be a significant help in increasing a business’ profitability and is open to businesses competing in almost all industries. The requirements for this certification can be found here (MWBE requirements).The BEC can add significant value to your applications; we will help you file for your certification through our contacts in the application office and will follow up on your process to ensure they have received all of your pertinent information.  We offer monthly information sessions on becoming a registered minority or woman owned business enterprise with the State of NY, New York City and the Port Authority of NY and NJ.
